Karnataka Housing Board was constituted in the year 1962 which was formerly known as Mysore Housing Board constituted in the year 1956. The main agenda of (KHB) was to provide homes to all sections of the society irrespective of their earning capacity. These houses were divided into areas that posses plots and sites for Low Income Group (LIG), Middle-Income Group (MIG) and High Income Group (HIG) that, which has been developed by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). More over certain percentage of these housing are reserved for various categories of people like, serving government officials, SC & ST, Defense personnel, Physically Handicapped etc. These houses are allotted to those persons, who are eligible as per the criteria laid down by the BDA, i.e.:1. One should be a resident of Karnataka, who has been living in that particular area for a period of 10 years continuously, with relaxations for the Government officials who are on the transferable jobs.
2. At the time of registration of the houses, one should not posses any house or property in one's name.
3. Moreover, one's children or spouse should not be holding any property at the time of registration for the house.

With following documents along with the filled in applications:1. Filled in Application form
2. Salary Certificate
3. DD drawn in favor of "Housing Commissioner KHB" Bangalore, for Processing fees or registration fees, as it varies depending for which type or group of house like LIG, MIG or HIG chosen by the applicant.
4. DD for Initial deposit of 25% of the value of the property applied for should also accompany the documents as this is paid as notified in the gazette.
Those candidates who are successful in getting the property allotted in their name have the option of paying the balance amount in equal installments. And those unsuccessful applicants can get refund of their initial amount paid at the time of applying for refund quoting the registrations number allotted to them at the time of registering for the property.
