The much awaited Hosur Roadexpress highway covering about 9.5 km was inaugurated by Sri. Kamal Nath, Hon'ble Union Minister for Surface Transport. The Hosur road express highway was built by the Bangalore Elevated Tollway Limited (BETL), a special purpose vehicle initiated by an association, will ferry motorists from Bommanahalli on the way to Electronic City and vice-versa. Both the directions will ensure signal free and unhindered for motorists. The proposal of the project was planned in the year 2006 by Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and the highway constructed by Nagarjuna Construction Company, Maytas Infra, Soma Pvt. Ltd Construction and nearly after 15 delay the overall work completed with an escalated cost of Rs.880 crores.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) allows motorists to travel till the grade section on a free toll but when they use the elevated highway to the Electronic city they are supposed to pay and travel. The BETL has been assigned with the work of managing 18.55 kilometer enlarging which even includes the surface road ahead of the elevated highway. From January 2010 the express highway towards Hosur Road was been inaugurated and opened for public use.
The Hosur road express highway is of four lanes, two in direction separated by metal dividers, street lights on both the sides and concrete medians painted in black and white color. The length of the flyover is 9.985 km and it takes 15 to 20 to reach the electronic city from Madiwala to silk board junction at normal speed.
